Plant Description and Details
Mt. Mahogany is one tough plant. It grows high in the mountains on rocky soils, windswept and dry. It takes its time reaching its mature size, so it could also be used as an ornamental shrub or even trimmed as a sparse hedge. The leaves are leatheryand dark green, lasting through the winter. Small red summer flowers are superceded by seeds, each one sporting a hairy plume "tail" that corkscrews 2-3" long, looking like a thin feather and staying on the bush all winter long.
